This week, I had my third devotional/podcast published with Unlocked! It’s called “Giving Control to the One Who Has It” and it shares about a time when I realized that I needed to trust my anxieties to God’s hands.
In their own words, Unlocked is a quarterly devotional for teens featuring daily readings centered on God’s Word. I love contributing to their important work in making these gospel-centered devotionals available for teens.
Since they have a very small staff, my devotionals are always accepted months and months before they are published. Sometimes, when I read my old writing I have to cringe a little because it isn’t as polished as I recalled. However, with this devotional, I was surprised to find it just as personally relevant as ever, and I was happy to see a few edits that the Unlocked team added that really pulled the piece together.
“Giving Control to the One Who Has It” starts with a true story from when I was applying for the Purdue London Internship Program.
“I need this recommendation to submit this application,” I told my parents. “And I need to submit this application now because the program might run out of spots.”
“Hey, have you considered that you might be anxious?” my mom asked me. “This seems like something you don’t have control over.”
“No, no, I’m just considering all the options,” I said. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I was indeed experiencing anxiety.
